Physical
Description
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 120
Hair: Red/auburn
Eyes: Brown
Distinguishing
Features: None really
Powers/Abilities:
Illusionist/Telekentic
Illusionist: Able to project
images including sound. She is
limited by her knowledge and the
size of the illusion. Projecting
a pair of dice that reads a six
and a one is relatively easy but
projecting the image of a person
is much more complicated. The
more complex the image is
determined how much concentration
it takes and how long she can
project it. Even the most
simplest of images she can only
sustain for only thirty minutes
so something like a person she
can only do for about ten minutes
at most. Adding in sound can also
limit her. Doing illusions can
give her a headache and if she
pushes herself too much she gets
a migraine.
Telekinesis: Able to move
things with her mind. This is
limited in range and size of the
object. She has to be able to see
or feel the item (so something
behind her unless she is touching
it she can't move). The larger
the object the harder it is to
move and if she over extends it
can give her a migraine. Moving
furniture is possible but a car
is not.
Psychological
Background: Due to her illness
and time spent in the hospital
Stephanie can be somewhat
introverted and unsure around
others. She also feels
responsible for her parents being
poor and her brothers not getting
things due to money being spent
on her for her to get well. She
hated being poor and is
determined not to be ever again.
She hates hospitals and avoids
them if at all possible now.
Although she values a dollar and
isn't one to blow money if she
wants something she will get it
without thinking about the cost.
Personality
Quirks/Hobbies: Stephanie smokes,
something she picked up in high
school in an attempt to get
friendly with some of the other
teenagers. It is also something
that passes the time while she's
gambling. She's not a big drinker
because it can effect her
abilities. Being tipsy makes it
harder to concentrate. She enjoys
drawing and signing. She also
loves her caffeine, coffee or
coke. She prefers take out over
cooking. She can cook just
doesn't enjoy it.
History:
Stephanie
was the only daughter born to her
parents and was the youngest of
the children. She was born
premature and had some health
issues because of it which
drained the family finances. When
she was seven she was diagnosed
with neuroangioblastoma, a rare
form of brain cancer. The doctors
did what they could with
radiation and chemo causing her
to spend a great deal of time in
different hospitals. The
prognosis though was not good
however and her life expectancy
was limited. Then Adam McCoy
visited with her parents and
offered an experimental
treatment. By this point her
parents were desperate to save
her but also they were broke and
over extended in credit from all
the earlier treatments. The
experiment worked and she was
cured they just didn't realize
the long-range effects that it
would have on her till much
later.
During her early
years Stephanie was home schooled
(or hospital schooled) but now
that she was healthy she started
going to a normal school. This
was a rough adjustment for her.
It was very different and she
wasn't sure how to handle other
kids, most of whom had gone to
school together for years and had
formed their own little groups
already. She stuck out from this
and since money was very tight
she felt as if others looked down
on her for being poor. She would
spend a lot of time day dreaming
or fantasizing about having
better things and a better life.
She soon learned she was able to
project these dreams. At first
they were fuzzy around the edges
or see through but she began to
practice. She didn't dare tell
anyone about her abilities but
she found it to be a lot of fun.
She also discovered that she
could move things with her mind.
This enabled her to make some
illusions even more believable
because she could use her
telekinesis to make it appear to
be affecting things around them.
By the time she graduated high
school she had a good grasp of
her abilities although she wasn't
sure how to use them to her
advantage but she had some ideas.
She was determined not to
continue being poor. She hated
the used clothes, never having
the newest things, and the
feeling that she'd ruined her
family.
She left
home two days after graduation.
She hitchhiked to Las Vegas where
she figured she could use her
abilities to rake in the money.
She was smart and didn't win too
much too quickly or at one
casino. She dated a few men while
there but for the most part
concentrated on the money. She
grew tired of Vegas so decided to
win one big jackpot. She sent
some of the money home to her
parents but then she moved on to
Atlantic City to start winning
there. She enjoyed having the
best of everything now although
she was still conservative in
spending, too ingrained in her to
value a dollar. It was while she
was here that she was approached
by McCoy to work with him to find
other mutants and to help them
with their abilities. At first
she told him no but she realized
that although she liked gambling
and getting money she had no real
purpose in life and that she
needed. The money was nice but
she wanted to be able to do
something with herself. She grew
up with her parents teaching her
to want to be useful in life, to
help others and be product full.
She also knew that if it wasn't
for McCoys experiments she
wouldn't be alive nor would she
have these abilities. So after
thinking on it for some time she
decided to assist him.
