Psychological Background: Sera is a curious, upbeat person.  She sees hope even in the face of disaster, and doesn't know the meaning of the words quit or fail.  She's not a formal person, and doesn't stand on ceremony.  Bluntly, honest, don't ask her opinion unless you really want to hear it.  She always has the latest technology, and has the horrible credit score to prove it.  As a kid and a teenager, she was the overweight one, with bad skin and braces, and untamable hair.  Since then, she's been determined to be noticed for her brain, rather than what she still perceives as a lack of physical attractiveness.

Personality Quirks: Tends to spend beyond her means for the latest cell phone or computer, has several maxed out credit cards.  And applies for new ones.  She doesn't do physical activities to get/stay in shape that was just a side effect.  She likes the adrenaline rush, or the relaxation.

History:

Sera is the youngest of two children, born and raised in California.  She had a happy childhood, and did the normal things all the other kids did, she surfed, she swam, took dance lessons, and she went to school.  She was the pudgy one in the class, but good-natured enough that she made friends on the power of her personality rather than what she looked like.

She discovered her aptitude for computers early in high school when she helped a girlfriend hack into her boyfriend's email account.  After that, her skills were in high demand for trivial things like that.  She learned to design viruses, and once wiped out the senior class test scores as a prank.

Her experience with the paranormal came by accident.  She was doing an experiment with a voice recorder and Gold waves, looking to separate the different sounds later on her computer (voices, background noise, etc).  When she downloaded and converted it later, and went to separate the different sound waves, she found voices on there that she hadn't heard.  From then on, she tried to duplicate it in different spots around her town.  The hospital and the graveyard were great places, and soon she realized she was picking up the voices of ghosts, otherwise called EVP.

This interest carried her through college, where she majored in computer science, writing her senior dissertation on EVP.  It was treated as a joke, but was well written enough, with enough authentic voice clips that she passed the course, after being given a stern lecture by her professor.

After college, she got a job with a dot com start up company, designing firewalls and gateways when she was approached to work for the Center.  The first time she was approached, she thought it was a joke on her, to mock her for her belief in 'that stuff' and was kind of rude.  The second time, she let them buy her lunch and convince her it was real.

Then she continued working at the dotcom because, well, she had credit card bills to pay off.  The third time she was approached, bored with her job, she accepted and relocated to North Carolina
