 Abilities:

Chris was born human but then altered with a combination of magic and science.  The man who altered him used the science he learned from Dr. Frankenstein and the reanimation of dead flesh. He also used the magic he'd learned through his centuries of living, most of which is now forgotten or hidden away due to how powerful it is. He combined all this with vampiric blood to change Chris into the being he is today.

Chris has all the advantages of a vampire: the long life, agility and strength but without the limitations.  A stake through the heart won't hurt him although fire or decapitation will.  Sunlight doesn't phase him either and he doesn't need to drink blood to survive.  He does have one big limitation though. In order for him to continue to live he has to drink a serum every  year.  The main ingredient in this serum is vampire blood.  The main changes were permanent but to keep his body going he has to drink the serum or begin to age rapidly.

 

Hobbies: Smoking,  horse back riding, hunting, martial arts, weapons, guns, card playing, pool, swimming, drinking, computers, motorcycle racing (street racing)

 Psychological Background: Chris can be very intense and serious.  He doesn't do anything by halfs. He gives it his all on everything.  Because of this he has a tendency to keep people at a distance because he doesn't want to go through the pain of losing someone he loves again.  He's had a few lovers over the  years but he does not get emotionally involved.  Knows he has a problem with abusing alcohol so is mindful of it. He knows it can't kill him but he doesn't want to be left vulnerable again.

 Personality Quirks:  Due to being shot in the back he is careful of ever turning his back on someone.  He has a tendency to sit with his back to the wall because of it.  Likes to hang out in bars where he can play cards or pool.  He also loves to race bikes.  The thrill is exhilarating to him and he’s more willing to take chances to win since he knows he can't be killed by it.
 

History: 

 

Chris grew up in a time when the west was wild.  He had a good life growing up.  He learned ranching from his father along with how to handle a gun.  When the Civil War broke out he fought for the north but eventually the war ended and he went back home.  He met Sarah and fell in love.  They married and he started a ranch of his own.  Things went very well for them.  His best friend Buck worked with him on the ranch and they were growing.  His greatest joy though came when his son Adam was born.  He thought life couldn't get any better.

That spring Buck and him went to take the horses in for trade down in Mexico. They were gone a few days and when he came back everything had changed.  The ranch had burned down with Sarah and Adam inside.  He was devastated.  Nothing would console him.  He crawled into a bottle and didn't crawl out for three years.

It was Buck who finally pulled him out of his drunk.  Basically he wouldn't put up with Chris' attitude and they ended up having a brawl that left Chris realizing he'd been an ass for the last few years.  Afterwards Chris needed a bit of time along and the two split for a while only to then meet up again when he ended up in Four Corners where he teamed up with some other men to help protect the town.

They all became very close but he and Vin Tanner became almost like brothers.  When the job ended him and Vin did some work together but then Vin was killed.  Chris felt as if he was cursed.  Those he cared about most had been taken early in life.  He again turned to the bottle and tried to drown his sorrows.  This time it wasn't an Ezra he pissed off though but three petty gunslingers that wanted to make a name for themselves. Chris beat them in the draw killing two of them and foolishly let the third go.  Latter that night he was shot in the back three times and died.

That was when his life changed dramatically.  He woke up in major pain, his body screaming at him as the man who had stolen his body altered it.  It was three days of burning pain as the man worked his magic and science changing Chris for all time.  Once the worst was over Chris found out that he would heal from most anything, which he was stronger and had better eyesight and agility then he ever had before.  All his senses were heightened actually. 

He also learned that a vampire had actually killed his friend Vin.  That the vampire had then stolen his body so that he looked like Vin but really wasn't him.  The man who had transformed him called himself Walker and he explained all this too him along with the fact that Chris would need vampire blood every year in order to continue to live.  Walker showed him how to fight vampires but Walker also wanted more.  He wanted Chris to be his servant and that was one thing Chris would not be.  He was far too independent.  He also hated Walker for what he'd done to him because he wasn't given the choice.  He couldn't kill Walker but he did get his revenge.  After a few years he managed to trap Walker in a mine and blew the opening.  The man wouldn't die but he was trapped for a while and Chris knew it would not be pleasant.

Chris began to hunt vampires in interest.  He wanted to find the one who had killed Vin and stolen his form.  The years went by and with it things changed.  Chris did different things to learn about the newest technologies and how best to work with the new weapons.  He did several jobs over the years to make ends meet.  In the 1980's he joined the military and trained as a Navy SEAL.  He found the training to be exciting. 

It was while he was working with them that he was approached by Robert MacSheen.  He listened to the information offered but he turned them down not wanting to join the Center.  It was about a few years later he was "killed" on a mission and he had to leave the military.  He wandered around finding different dens of vampires to hunt but he still longed to find the Vin one.  Then one day he got some information that the one he was looking for was in North Carolina.  He didn't hesitate to head in that direction.
