Abilities:
Werewolf
Aspen
has the ability to shape shift into a wolf or wolf
like creature during night hours.
Werewolves have an
aversion to bright lights and wolfs bane. They
are allergic to silver, in all forms. This
allergic reaction can range from being blisters from
the touch on skin or to killing them if taken
internally. Can be killed by fire,
decapitation or silver poisoning. They age at
a slower rate then humans but are not immortal.
They can have children but they do chance in passing
on the werewolf curse.
Has great control over the shape shifting but
extreme stress, anger or panic can trigger it to
happen without his choice as well as not being
able to control it when he’s off his meds.
Hobbies:
Aspen
plays the guitar, is an exercise junkie and has
learned a few dozen magic tricks over the years.
His greatest are card tricks; he’s great at
slight of hand.
Still drinks a little too much as well.
Psychological Background:
Aspen
is a compassionate, caring individual.
He’s a great shrink because he’s willing to
go that extra mile to help a patient.
He’s also not very stable himself and
currently taking medication for bipolar disorder.
He presents himself as a happy, healthy
person, but he’s still struggling with his disorder
and his sister’s death.
But he’s been
known, even before his breakdown, to be totally
unpredictable in everything he does, he’s still that
way.
Personality Quirks:
Aspen
rides his bike everywhere he can.
Reads a lot and spends a lot of time alone,
doing research on whatever he happens to need to
work on at the time.
Has disregard for the advice, opinions and views of
others if they contradict his own ideas.
Willful (not
so good as a team player).
Possible concern about the genetic component
of schizophrenia (which may contribute to his
reluctance for a seriously committed relationship).
Also, has three black belts in Martial arts
and can shoot very well.
History:
Aspen
and his fraternal twin Aston were born to their
parents, in London, England.
Their father was a Magistrate and their
mother was a registered nurse.
So they had a good life, they went to private
schools and were in the upper class elite of
England.
They were also, being twins, were very close
to each other.
It was the type of life a lot of people would have
loved to have, till their father was killed in an
accident.
Monica and the kids didn’t know what to do;
they tried to go on with life, the kids seemed to
manage it, but Monica after a while got lonely.
She had moved the kids out of the house, it held to
many memories for her and to a smaller house.
Thomas, her husband, had left all the money
to the kids in a trust fund, but enough to keep
Monica going for a few years, he of course thought
that he’d die years later and Monica probably a few
years later.
But that’s not what happened.
So she had to get a full time job.
She got a job on Naval Base close by and
there she met an American Naval officer.
They started dating, it took the kids a while
to warm up to him, but soon they did.
A few years of dating and James asked Monica
to marry him, she agreed.
They stayed in
London
a few more years and then James was transferred back
to the States.
They were sent to New York and that was a bit of a culture
shock to the kids, but amazingly, the kids adjusted
well and made friends.
Most were in love with their accents.
Time went on and Aston started to
have some problems.
First, it was little things, odd things that Aspen and his parents started to notice, but
later Aston was having visual and auditory
hallucinations.
Monica and James didn’t know what to do, at
the time the technology of the mind hadn’t caught up
to reality.
So they put Aston in an institution.
That was the worse day of
Aspen’s life.
He’s resented James ever since.
But his life had to go on.
Then and there, he decided to become a
shrink.
It had been kind of tickling his mind since the day
he went to visit his mother at the military hospital
and he was called by a soldier.
He went into the room and the man asked him
to itch his foot, he couldn’t reach it.
Problem was, the foot the man claimed was
itching was amputated.
That
intrigued Aspen then, wondering how
the human mind worked.
But after Aston’s
institutionalization, he threw himself totally into
school and seeing her when he could.
He started to
date as well, but every time he got close to
someone, he did something to sabotage it.
He won’t admit it, but he has an irrational
fear that he’s going to end up like Aston.
Even today.
So he won’t have a life with someone, won’t
put them threw that.
He
soon graduated College and Aston at this point was
doing well on her medication.
So Aston stayed at home with James and Monica
and Aspen
went on with his life.
He got a job, and moved up in life.
Given the fact that his father was in the
military, he found he had an ability to understand
the military mind and cause of that, he moved up,
actually opening his own clinic to help the vets.
During the time of
Aspen’s life, he did the
dating and sabotaging it, while dealing with his
sister who would go off her meds periodically.
He’d deal with that, his sister would get
better and Aspen would always feel like nothing was worth
it. Even
being a shrink, he’d never let himself admit he was
clinically depressed and had been for a long time,
just one of those rare people who could force
themselves to get up and work.
He went like that for a few years,
when he was approached by a man named Daniel
Cassidy, he seemed to have a young man whom he
needed help with and every other shrink he went to,
recommended
Aspen.
First Daniel offered
Aspen
money, when that didn’t work, he told him honestly
about the case.
Aspen
soon found himself involved with the Center, helping
those unique individuals deal with the changes in
their lives and amazingly moving back to
England.
He stayed there for a few years
till his 35th birthday, but a bit before
that Daniel started to notice the depression that Aspen had been hiding for years.
But right before Daniel could do or say
anything,
Aspen’s life was totally
changed.
He was attending to a man who was
a werewolf.
The man wasn’t dealing with it well, he was
an old werewolf and Aspen was beginning to
think the strain of living that long, was too much
for him.
He soon found out he was right.
The man, named only Artero,
attacked
Aspen, biting him and killing
several other individuals.
The Center
was left with no choice but to kill Artero.
When it was over, Aspen pulled himself up
off the floor, leaning on the wall, all bloody and
in a terrible daze, Daniel came to his rescue.
Daniel and Aspen both knew while Aspen was healing, that he’d been infected by
the Lycanthropy gene and there was nothing they
could do about it.
Aspen
tried to handle it, but with his already fragile
mental state and the fact that at that same time,
Aston killed herself, Aspen lost it as well.
He never figured out why, she was on her meds
and doing great, but she took James’ gun and killed
herself.
After his first change, he took off and it took
Daniel a few years to find him.
By the time he did,
Aspen
was living on the street, wired on booze and
drugs and totally mentally lost.
Daniel brought him home and with help,
got him together.
He’s been doing fine ever since, till
recently. Aspen went off his meds
for a reason he won’t tell anyone and Daniel
once again had to track him down.
Once he was found, he was taken care of
again and asked to go help KC in the states.
