Psychological Background: Aislin is fun loving and enjoys life but she knows the value of a dollar.  Growing up in the depression made her very cautious with her money and possessions.  She is distrustful of vampires in general considering what her father had done.  She's known several throughout the years and has been friends with them but she always wonders if they aren't like her father.  She's had many short flings over the years but nothing that lasted very long.  She is very confident in herself and isn't afraid to go after what she wants, whether it's an illustration contract or a man.  She speaks her mind and doesn't care if others like it.

Personality Quirks:

Loves to watch the sunset and to stay up all night to watch the sunrise.  Likes quiet times alone including hiking through the bayou or just soaking in a hot tub.  Enjoys expensive things but is quite comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt.

History:

Aislin's mother was a witch who was attacked by a vampire.  He not only fed on her but he also raped her, in the process creating Aislin.  Aislin grew during the depression.  Money was very tight.  Her mother worked as a cleaning woman but also to supplement her income she did spells and potions for people.

She taught her daughter the craft from a young age.  She also realized what her daughter was and although she tried to safe guard her, she never lied to her about her parentage.  When she was a teenager, Aislin tried to find out who her father was.  The only clue she had was a medallion that her mother had ripped off him during the attack.  It wasn't that distinctive though to lead her anywhere.  She gave up the search when she got older but part of her still would like to find him.  She is just not sure whether she wants to destroy him or not for what he did to her mother.

By the time Aislin reached her twenties, the economy was better but her mother still worked the two jobs.  Now though she pushed for them to open their own business.   Aislin had made friends amongst all sorts of beings and figured they could use it to their advantage.  She opened up an underground club in Durham for those who weren't "normal humans".  Word of mouth was their only form of advertizing but it worked. The business didn't become an over night success but after several years it did thrive enough where she could encourage her mother to stop being a cleaning woman.  The club has spells around it to prevent violence so different beings can interact without the threat of altercations.

It was also during this time that she realized she'd stopped aging and her menstrual cycles stopped.  She knew that would happen eventually but it was still a hard thing to accept.  It was during this time that she took up the hobby of painting and also writing.

She started out going into the mountains for inspiration but then she started doing work that was more inspired by the unusual, haunted houses, graveyards etc.  Although she sold some, it wasn't until the sixties where she got some work illustrating books.  It was a good career for her and allowed her to hire someone else to help run the club.  Her mother was getting old and she knew she'd be dying soon.  She also knew that eventually she'd have to plan something or move because of her non-aging.  She started planning on a false identity then, setting it up so that when the time came she could switch over with hopefully no problems.

She made it appear as if she had a child and sent the child away.  It was easier to fake then she thought.  No one really asked questions back then on such things.  She paid a doctor enough to fake the birth record.  She was glad she did it when she did because not long afterwards people were cracking down on fake births.

With the computer age coming quickly upon her she saw the writing on the walls and knew that such things would get harder and harder.  For now, though she was set up for the next generation.  In the mean time, she learned what she could about computers.  She found them fascinating and taught herself to be a graphic artist.  She used make up to make herself look older but in the late nineties, she left everything to her "daughter" and went on vacation to never return.  Except for one man, it went easier then she thought.

This man had been stalking her for some time.  He tried to attack her when she rebuffed him.  In the fight that followed, she'd had little choice in killing him.  It was self-defense but it still bothered her.  She got rid of the body in the mountains not wanting to take a chance on the police.  Other then that no one questioned her.  She took over the business and even continued with the illustrations for books with ease.  She was tired though of doing work for other's books.  Her business with the bar was doing enough where she didn't have to do art work any more.  Now she just paints for fun and runs the business full time.
